Gilbert Grape. Jack Sparrow. Edward Scissorhands. Yes, we’re talking mega-star Johnny Depp. This week on Proxibid, Johnny Depp’s Kentucky home will go up for auction. The 54 year-old-actor is a Kentucky native – born in Owensboro before moving several times throughout his childhood. The Halfhill Auction Group and Listing Agent, Gary Denton of Rector Hayden Realtors, are selling the home on behalf of the three-time Academy Award nominated actor, who purchased the home in 1995 and sold it in 2001. He bought the property back in 2005 for his mother, Betty Sue Palmer, with whom he was very close.

Just outside Lexington in the picturesque Kentucky Bluegrass region, the 6,000 square-foot brick home sits on 41 acres (+/-) with three barns, 15 stalls, four automatically watered paddocks, and a four car garage. The house itself was built in 1915, and features six bedrooms, seven bathrooms, large family room, gourmet kitchen, wet bar, sunroom and inground pool. The acreage also has a one bedroom, one bathroom guest cottage built as a property manager’s quarters or space for out-of-town guests. The property’s many features make it ideal for entertaining friends and family.
It’s located just two miles from the famed Keeneland Race Course – a National Historic Landmark. In fact, Keeneland is both a race track and an auction company specilaizing in thoroughbred race horses. The company’s September horse auction has produced five of the last six triple crown winners. For a racing aficionado, there’s no better location to set up residence.
The live auction will take place Friday, September 15 at 11 AM Eastern at the estate in Lexington. For those who cannot attend the auction in person, Proxibid offers online bidding accommodations to ensure all interested buyers can participate.
