The Best Moments of 2016…as Told by our Employees

With a network of 3,350+ active sellers, spanning all major classes of inventory, we’ve seen it and sold it all. That means we get to be part of some pretty amazing moments every year. Here are a few fan favorites – the best moments of 2016.

Shane Hughes, Sales Executive

Shane Hughes

Shane’s favorite item on Proxibid in 2016 crossed through the Proxibid Marketplace with UK-based Historics at Brooklands. While Historics is known for classic, vintage, sport, and exotic cars, the company’s June Auction featured a truly unique item—a tribute to one of the most famous and recognizable movie-cars of all time, the “Mutts Cutts” van from Dumb and Dumber. There’s nothing quite like this vehicle if you want to make a statement or own a pet grooming parlor!

In November, a twelve car collection dubbed “The Jewels in the Crown” crossed the auction block with Silverstone Auction’s NEC Classic Motor Show sale. Two of HM Queen Elizabeth II of England’s personal vehicles will be sold to the highest bidder alongside British royal cars owned by royals Princess Diana, Princess Margaret, and several other world leaders, celebrities and politicians.

Besides the obvious appeal of the vehicles, Dana picks the auction as her favorite of 2016, because the event garnered international attention in publications like CNNMoney.

Pat Nguyen, Director of Seller Success

Pat Nguyen

Pat Nguyen’s favorite part of 2016 is the partnership announcement and auctions with Barrett-Jackson, the World’s Greatest Collector Car Auctions®. Proxibid buyers jumped at the chance to register, bid, and win some of the most sought-after collector cars in the world. Pat serves as the account manager for Barrett-Jackson, and had the opportunity to attended the company’s Palm Beach sale in April.

Chad Sideris, Media Buyer

Chad Sideris

While we see Estate and Personal property cross through our Marketplace every day, we don’t always see a collection quite like this. Chad Sideris chooses the Cabbage Patch Kids collection from March as his favorite item (or favorite 5,000 items) of 2016. Featured in several national publications, the world’s largest collection of Cabbage Patch Kids featured more than 5,000 kids and 3,000 pieces of related memorabilia from a custom built museum in Maryland. We can definitely say this will go down as one of the quirkiest sales we’ve ever seen on Proxibid.

Tom Lancaster, Sales Executive

Tom Lancaster

One of the time-honored traditions at Proxibid is Roar @ 4—a weekly social hour for employees each Wednesday. While Tom Lancaster works from his home state of Texas, our remote sales team does visit Proxibid HQ in Omaha regularly for company updates, training and more. During a June visit, Tom barbequed on the patio for Roar, and chooses this event as his favorite of 2016!

Carly Docter, Communications Coordinator

Carly Docter

Carly’s favorite item crossed through the Proxibid Marketplace in August and is an iconic piece of automotive history—a 1939 General Motors Futurliner bus. The pre-war bus with art deco bodywork and chrome side panels stood a massive 33 feet long by 8 feet wide by 11 feet tall and weighed more than 12 tons. Car enthusiasts set their sights on one of the rare Futurliner buses, which crossed the auction block on August 6. With only nine surviving and just three examples in good condition, this automobile is recognized as Futurliner #3 by collectors.
