Waylon Jennings is often associated with the outlaw country music movement of the 1970s he spearheaded. He was also a member of the country supergroup The Highwaymen with Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, and Johnny Cash. Fans of all generations remember Jennings for his creation of the theme song for the hit show The Dukes of Hazzard.

Jessi Colter, Jennings’ wife of more than 30 years, is offering this collection to the public to bring attention to the care provided at the Phoenix Children’s Hospital. Country music fans will not want to miss their chance at a piece of this legend’s incredible life, including:

  • Lot 235: Buddy Holly’s 1958 Ariel Cyclone Motorcycle – This treasured item was a gift to Waylon Jennings in 1979 by members of Holly’s original Crickets, Joe B. Maudlin and Jerry Allison on his forty-second birthday.
  • Lot 249: Willie Nelson’s Braids – Johnny and June Cash held a party for Jennings after he was able to achieve sobriety after battling an addiction to cocaine. In Jennings’ honor, Willie Nelson cut off his trademark braids and gave them to his wife, Connie, who then presented them to Waylon as a gift.
  • Lot 305: Handwritten Notes and Lyrics – A glimpse into Jennings’ musical mind and personal life. This important paper tablet includes approximately forty-five pages of Waylon’s handwritten lyrics, the first of which begins: “The worlds a stage / loves a game to you.”

“We are honored and humbled to be able to present Waylon Jennings’ belongings to the world,” said Arlan Ettinger, President of Guernsey’s Auction House. “Waylon was a musician whose music meant, and still means, so much to such a wide audience. We are thrilled that no matter where in the world his fans are located, they will be able to participate in this sale online.”
