Grateful Dead Family Jubilee Auction Sells 87 Percent Online on Proxibid

Omaha, NE – April 22, 2015 – Proxibid (www.proxibid.com), the most trusted online Marketplace for buying and selling highly valued items, today announced that more than 87 percent of the items up for bid in last weekend’s auction of Grateful Dead memorabilia by Donley Auction Services, Inc. sold to online buyers through its online bidding platform. In all, more than 600 items including original album artwork, song lyrics, signed artwork and more crossed the block during this live auction webcast.

“With Proxibid we were able to extend the reach of this auction beyond geographical borders, allowing any fan anywhere in the world to participate,” said Randy Donley, auctioneer and owner of Donley Auction Services. “Proxibid’s powerful online bidding platform and risk management system ensured bidders could buy the rare and extremely valuable pieces for sale with confidence that the platform would deliver and that the transaction would be secure, making this auction a complete success.”

Deadheads from nearly all 50 states, as well as from Canada, Switzerland, and Australia participated in this auction, snatching up everything from the original drafting of “He’s Gone,” which sold for $50,000 to an online buyer from Grand Rapids, MI, to an original painting entitled, “Without a Net,” by Rick Griffin, which sold for $21,500 to an online buyer in Hollywood, FL. Even international buyers got in on the game as another Rick Griffin piece, “Can-A-Bliss,” sold to an online buyer in Toronto. In all, more than 500 online buyers participated in the auction.

“We are extremely pleased with the results of this auction,” said Dennis McNally, Grateful Dead historian and former publicist. “It is a joy to be able to share these valuable mementos with fans from across the globe. Online bidding via Proxibid made it possible for us to connect with fans on a personal level.”

The online auction catalog received 187,000 online catalog views. More than 3,650 total bids were placed during the auction, with more than 75 percent coming from online bidders via Proxibid.
